What are the messaging guidelines for China?
Sender ID Policy for China
In China, dynamic and alpha sender IDs are not supported. This means that any sender ID you specify (e.g., “Conversive”) will be automatically replaced with an inbound number you have purchased from us. Recipients will see messages coming from this number, allowing them to directly reply by clicking the ‘Reply’ button.
Unique Number Format
The sender number provided does not follow the standard virtual long number or shortcode format. Instead, it consists of 17 digits and notably does not begin with the country’s prefix. To obtain a number, you must first register and obtain a signature specific to China.
China Signature Requirements
For transactional and promotional messages, the signature is a crucial element that appears at the beginning of each message. The requirements are as follows:
- Supports plain English or a combination of Latin letters and Chinese characters (e.g., 【MiuMiu缪缪】).
- The signature can include 2-8 Chinese characters.
- White space and special characters are not permitted within the signature.
- A single sender can only be associated with one signature, though the same signature may be used by multiple senders.
- The signature must be at least 2 characters long.
- Use of brackets: [ ] are automatically converted to 【】 upon message delivery to the handset.
Messaging Traffic Regulations
- This GW is for promotional traffic only.
- Private cell phone numbers are not allowed in marketing traffic.
- Flash message (Data Coding 16 and 240) is not supported.
- Customers should include opt out choices inside the content or traffic may fail.
- Traffic related to real estate, loans, bitcoin, crypto, finance promo, stocks, dunning, immigration, adult supplies, politics, pornography, violence, gambling, gaming, investment banking, education, training, plastic surgery and other illegal information are not allowed.
Documentation Requirements
For all traffic, a business license and official website URL are required. Financial traffic must include a business license issued by the Chinese government.
Compliance and Updates
These guidelines are designed to ensure compliance with Chinese regulations. Regular reviews and updates will be conducted to reflect any changes in the legal framework or operational requirements.
Note: For Financial traffic, kindly provide the business license which is issued by China government.
